An Bord Pleanála has allowed Strandsend Ltd to build apartments at Fey Yerra on the Leopardstown Road in Foxrock, Dublin 18, but has substantially reduced the number of units after opposition by some local residents.

Six parties appealed planning permission to An Bord Pleanála saying the residential development would constitute over-development of the site and would have an adverse impact on the amenities of adjoining property.

While Anthony and Brian Durkan's Strandsend Ltd was looking to build 20 apartments and duplex units and townhouses, An Bord Pleanála has said it must reduce that number to just 12 and use the left over area for open space.

An Bord Pleanála also said that the balconies must be omitted from the townhouses after local residents complained about potential overlooking.

Last year Strandsend Ltd was refused planning permission by An Bord Pleanála for a development of 20 residential units at Fey Yerra. The board said it would constitute over development of the site resulting in a shortfall in car-parking provision, would be visually obtrusive and injure the amenities of adjoining properties by reason of overlooking.

Fey Yerra is an enclave of 12 semi-detached houses and three detached houses built by Sorohan in the early 1990s.
