Shopfront: Looking for French style? Parisian company Maison en Demeure does dresser units which are expensive - the average cost is €4,000 - but wonderful quality.

Maison makes all sorts of furniture from chairs upwards, some of which are on display in Town & Country in Cork, the shop which stocks Maison here.

The dressers sell well despite - or perhaps because of - their great size: some are 2.5 metres (over 8 ft) tall). They hold an awful lot and there are dozens of variations - glass doors, drawers, shelves, presses all combined. Most pieces are available in a few colour options (not very French but we liked the black stain best) and, says Town & Country owner Mary Jane Russell, are usually used in kitchens or drawingrooms.
