The Courtyard is a new apartment development in Longford launching this weekend through Hooke &MacDonald. Once St Joseph's Convent, the original building, which dates to 1869, has been restored and converted into apartments and a leisure centre.

Overall, there are 47 apartments in four buildings. The development is located in Newtownforbes, which is close to the River Shannon and one of Longford's most popular residential areas.

Prices start from £86,500 (€109,855) for one-bedroom apartments, from £98,950 (€125,666) for two-bedroom apartments and from £126,500 (€160,655) for three-bedroom duplex units. All the apartments qualify for Rural Renewal Tax Incentives, which include preBacon mortgage interest relief and Section 23 type incentives, making this scheme attractive to both owner-occupiers and investors.

Built by F.K. Construction, the original convent building has been converted into seven apartments and a residents' gym and leisure centre. Original features such as the staircase and balustrade, high ceilings, plaster coving and internal window shutters have been retained. The original church, which boasts stained glass windows and mosaic floors, has been retained for cultural use.
