For those living on the Dublin side (north side of the town), the commute is not bad although there are still some poor stretches of road and a traffic bottleneck at Castledermot.

People living on the southside can face long delays negotiating their way through congested Carlow town at rush-hour but major improvements are on the horizon. A bypass of Carlow is under construction and will open next year. This is the first phase of the new Dublin-to-Waterford dual-carriageway, which will open by 2010.

Trains:Carlow is on the Dublin-to-Waterford route and there are six trains each weekday to both destinations. The earliest departs Carlow at 6.30am and serves Athy, Kildare, Newbridge, Hazelhatch and Celbridge and arrives at Dublin Heuston at 7.52am.
