Getting to Wicklow by road and rail

Car

It takes less than an hour outside rush hour to drive to Dublin. Mornings and evenings the time is almost doubled, from hold-ups at Glen of the Downs, Kilmacanogue and the Loughlinstown roundabout. Going home, there is a steady stream of traffic all the way. Try branching off at Rathnew, taking the back road through Newcastle, Kilcoole and Greystones and cutting back on to the N11 on the southern outskirts of Bray. This way, you avoid most of the traffic jams. Some Wicklow commuters drive to Bray and take the DART the rest of the way.

Train

The 7.27 a.m. train from Wicklow gets into Connolly Station at 8.48 a.m. in good time for a nine o'clock start. There are two trains going home in the evening. The 5.25 p.m. arrives in Wicklow at 6.30 p.m. and the 6.30 p.m. gets there at 7.28 p.m. A weekly return ticket costs £23.
