For a variation on the stereotypical dark, book-lined study, the one at Emoclew is a bright, inviting space , partly as a result of the toughened glass entrance.

Perhaps a little too inviting, which is why the owner has "Dad's Place" written in an adhesive vinyl logo on the door, to remind potential little visitors that work is in progress.

To give the room some privacy there are nine opaque vinyl squares on each door but you still have a sense of what is going on in the rest of the house.

The doors are part of the owner's vision to create an open living space. According to Branigan Interiors (01-457 3544) a similar sized pivot door and panel will cost around €2,500.
