AUCTIONS MAY not be coming back into fashion anytime soon, but in the past week there have been two of them in Dublin and both were successful.

Yesterday, Sherry FitzGerald fetched €2.05 million for 10 Herbert Road, Sandymount, Dublin 4, a period house in impeccable condition. Three parties chased the property in a packed auction room after bidding opened at €1.6 million. The pre-auction AMV had been €1.75 million.

Late last week Harper O’Grady achieved €710,000 under the hammer for a five-bedroom house at 12 Clareville Road off Kenilworth Road in Harold’s Cross. In this case, two serious bidders chased the house, which is in walk-in condition, with a floor area of around 176sq m (1,900sq ft).
