AROUND THE BLOCK:A SUSTAINABLE building show starting today is enticing people over to the green side by highlighting ways in which being eco-aware will cost you less.

The Irish Sustainable Building Show, which runs from today until Saturday, is assuring people that “going green makes cents”.

A low energy show house, built by Errigal New Homes, will display how it’s done and for those who want to stay in their existing homes, there is a lot of advice on how to retrofit. Talks are being given by illustrious eco-names such as Tom Woolley (on hemp lime insulation), Jay Stuart (on retrofitting homes) and Duncan Stewart (the future of Irish construction) along with many others. Organisers say that the show is carbon-neutral but it achieves this by buying carbon credits. Off-set your own carbon footprint by going to Simmonscourt, RDS on a Dublin Bike. Visit
