A newly-built five-bed house high on hill outside Enniskerry village has come on the market by private treaty through Hassett Estates with an asking price of €4.75 million.

Called Riverview House, the property on Old Bray Road sits on three acres of land and is accessed via a long driveway that slopes up from the main road.

While the landscaping has yet to settle down, and the house has the bare exposed look of the brand new home, the interior layout is well planned and the finish impressive. It's a big house with 485sq m (5,200sq ft) of living space on two floors, with no less than seven working fireplaces, the first of which provides a focal point in the striking crimson hallway with its gleaming marble tiled floor and high double doors on either side, leading into large reception rooms.

There are four reception rooms in all, two on either side of the hallway. All are large, almost square rooms with ceilings over 13ft high and tall sash windows side-by-side, allowing lots of light to flood in.

A very large kitchen at the back of the house has traditional cream-painted units topped in granite while a large adjoining utility room has access to the back garden. Upstairs, a vast carpeted landing overlooks the hall below while a series of three narrow arched windows frame the view of the surrounding farmland. These views are enlarged in the two front-facing bedrooms - big airy rooms with space for a sofa to lounge in and wiring for a flat screen television over the mantelpieces. Each room has a wall of built-in wardrobes and full en suite bathrooms.

Two of the remaining bedrooms have en suites while even the smallest bedroom is a spacious double. A large family bathroom has attractive mahogany fittings and walk-in power shower.

There's a great sense of solidity about this well proportioned house house. It's evident in details, like the chunky cornicing, the quality brushed steel door furniture and in the generous electrical spec. Underfloor heating takes the chill away - the fireplaces create atmosphere.
