Roads:Ennis is linked to Limerick and Galway by the N18. Earlier this year, a €120 million bypass on the N18 was opened which has removed an estimated 20,000 vehicles a day from the streets of Ennis.

The western relief road (N85) is scheduled for completion in June. Major distances: Dublin (147 miles); Limerick (23 miles); Galway (42 miles); Cork (83 miles).

Trains:trains to Dublin via Limerick. The Government's Transport 21 Plan envisages the phased re-opening of the Western Rail Corridor from Ennis to Claremorris.

On September 26th, 2006, the Minister for Transport Martin Cullen announced that "the Government has approved funding for Iarnród Éireann to proceed with the development of the first phase (Ennis to Athenry)".
