Roads:Tullamore is six miles south of the main Dublin-Galway route which is being developed to motorway standard by the National Roads Authority.

A link road from Tullamore to Kilbeggan is being built which will connect the town to the M6.

Two main roads (the N80 and the N52) pass through the town causing significant congestion.

Work is expected to start by the end of this year on a major bypass which will take traffic on both routes out of the town centre. Principal distances: Dublin 60 miles; Limerick 70; Galway 80 miles and closer to home Athlone (23); and Portlaoise (21).
