Barrow Street: A new phase of 30 units in the Gasworks development on Barrow Street in Dublin 4 will be released for sale off the plans this week. Selling agents Hooke and MacDonald will begin accepting bookings for the one, two and three-bedroom apartments today.
Prices start at €310,000 for the one-bedroom properties, €400,000 for the two-bedroom units and €550,000 for the three-bedroom units.
The apartments are larger than usual, with one-bedroom apartments averaging 50 sq m (540 sq ft), two-bedroom apartments measuring 72 sq m (775 sq ft), and three-bedroom apartments reaching 105 sq m (1,130 sq ft).
Each will include fitted kitchen units, intercom security systems, fitted wardrobes and recessed lighting. A number have en suite bathrooms and good-sized balconies. All the properties on sale are covered by the HomeBond guarantee scheme.
Owner occupiers will not have to pay stamp duty and mortgage interest relief is available to investors. The completed development will include retail units and office space. The area is close to Dublin's city centre. Nearby facilities include Grand Canal Dock, Lansdowne Road rugby ground and Shelbourne Park dog track. There are also a number of parks and leisure facilities nearby.
The site is one of the last undeveloped areas in Dublin 4 and is surrounded by existing mature housing. The area is popular and Hooke and MacDonald suggest that it should achieve above average capital appreciation in the years ahead.
