An executive in telecommunications has paid £2.75 million at auction for Killiney House, a large, six-bedroom period house on two acres at Killiney Hill Road, Co Dublin. Hamilton Osborne King handled the sale. Reputed to be the oldest house in Killiney, it was sold by rock star Jim Kerr and is one of the finest homes on the hill. The four reception rooms include a 22-ft long drawing-room with an attractive Victorian-style fireplace, while the main bedroom suite runs the full width of the house.

Meanwhile in Dublin city centre, there was intense competition for two studio apartments and three one-bedroom units in the Irish Life Centre when they were auctioned by Hooke & MacDonald.

A second floor studio with 294 sq. ft in Talbot Hall sold under the hammer for £89,000. The other studio on the same floor had 293 sq. ft and made £97,000. A one-bed apartment on the fourth floor of Talbot Hall had 489 sq. ft and sold for £142,000. In Abbey Court, a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor with 484 sq. ft fetched £157,000 while another unit on the third floor, with 630 sq. ft, made £176,000.

Sherry FitzGerald secured £475,000 at auction for 34 Ulverton Road, Dalkey. In Dun Laoghaire, 5 Granite Hall, a detached bungalow, was sold at auction for £345,000 by Sherry FitzGerald.

Elsewhere in Dun Laoghaire, Tanglewood, a detached four-bedroom house on Pottery Road, was withdrawn by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £535,000.

In Monkstown, 2 Ardenza Park, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, was sold prior to auction for over £400,000 by Ross McParland.

In Blackrock, 99 Mount Merrion Avenue, a three-bedroom terraced house, was sold at auction for £580,000 through Sherry FitzGerald.

The same agent secured a strong price of £500,000 at auction for Oakhurst, a three-bedroom semidetached house on Avoca Road, Blackrock. A four-bedroom semi-detached house at 8 Rowan Park Avenue, Blackrock, was sold at a Sherry FitzGerald auction for £425,000.

A two-bedroom gate lodge, Fairhaven, at Blackrock House Lodge, Blackrock, was withdrawn at £370,000 by Gunne.

A four-bedroom detached house standing on 0.3 acres, Mellary, at Dublin Road, Shankill, was withdrawn by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £330,000. In Rathmichael, Belleview, a six-bedroom house at Heronford Lane, was withdrawn at £580,000 by Orchard Auctioneers, which is quoting about £600,000.

In Cabinteely, 96 Johnstown Avenue, was withdrawn at £200,000 by Ross McParland, which is quoting £235,000.

A five-bedroom detached house at 8 Dunboy, Brighton Road, Foxrock, was sold at auction for £690,000 through Daphne L. Kaye & Associates.

Also in Foxrock, the same agent sold Ramor, a three-bedroom detached house on Leopardstown Road, at auction for £350,000.

In Stillorgan, 35 Beaufield Park, a two-bedroom semi-detached house, was withdrawn at £155,000 and sold later for a higher price by Lisney.

A four-bedroom detached house at 14 Farmleigh Avenue, Stillorgan, was withdrawn by Lisney, which is quoting £310,000.

A four-bedroom semi-detached house at 107 The Rise, Mount Merrion, was sold at a Douglas Newman Good auction for £390,000.

Also in Mount Merrion, 38 Thornhill Road, a three-bedroom semi-detached house was sold at auction for £265,000 through Mason Estates.

In Kilternan, Badger Hill, a detached four-bedroom house on 1.5 acres on Ballycorus Road, was sold at auction for £435,000 by Hamilton Osborne King. A five-bedroom semi-detached house, Ceann Sleibhe, at 120 Roebuck Road, Dublin 14, was withdrawn and sold later for over £400,000 through Sherry FitzGerald.

In Donnybrook, a detached five-bedroom house, Mount Carmel, at 16 Airfield Park, was sold prior to auction for over £600,000 by Ross McParland.

Off Greenfield Park, Donnybrook, 17 Greenfield Manor, a three-bedroom apartment, was sold after auction for over £285,000 by Sherry FitzGerald A mews house at 11 Raglan Lane, Ballsbridge, was sold at a Hamilton Osborne King auction for £390,000.

Dublin 6 and 8

Off Bushy Park Road, Rathgar, 4 Riversdale Avenue, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, was sold at a Sherry FitzGerald auction for £383,000.

A four-bedroom semi-detached house at 61 Brighton Square, Rathgar, sold at auction for £345,000 through O'Connor Shannon.

Sherry FitzGerald is seeking £880,000 for 52 Garville Avenue, a two-storey over garden level five-bedroom house following its withdrawal from auction at £840,000.

In Terenure, 61 Parkmore Drive, a three-bedroom semi-detached house was sold at auction for £285,000 through Ross McParland.

Nearby, 106 Parkmore Drive, Terenure, a three-bedroom semi, was withdrawn by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £230,000.

A three-bedroom mid-terraced house at 46 Terenure Road North, Terenure, was sold after auction for over £170,000-plus through Lisney.

A two-storey over garden level four-bedroom period house at 15 Leinster Road, Rathmines, was sold at a Lisney auction for £575,000.

Also in Rathmines, 5 York Avenue, a four-bedroom house, was sold after auction for about £220,000 by Lisney.

In Ranelagh, 3 Sallymount Avenue, a three-storey Victorian terraced house, was sold at a Sherry FitzGerald auction for £675,000.

In Delgany, a four-bedroom bungalow, Woodfield, was sold prior to auction for over the guide price of £230,000 by Sherry FitzGerald.

A two-bedroom stone cottage on an acre, Woodside Cottage, Tinakilly, was sold prior to auction for in excess of the guide price of £175,000 through Clarke Delahunt.

A four-bedroom bungalow at 5 The Wavering, Blainroe, was withdrawn by Clarke Delahunt, which is quoting £180,000.

Commercial

In Blackrock, 27 Carysfort Avenue, a retail/commercial premises at 27 Carysfort Avenue, was withdrawn at £575,000 and is under negotiation through Hamilton Osborne King.

A 2,250 sq. ft site at 52 Botanic Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, was sold at auction for £227,000 through Mason Estates.

A 22-bedroom nursing home, Woodlands House, in Navan, was sold at auction for £685,000 through Raymond Potterton.

In Ballina, Co Mayo, Murphy Brothers public house on Howley Street, was withdrawn at £1.7 million and sold later for a higher figure through Morrisseys. In Carlow, Lennon's Pub at Tullow Street, was sold at auction for £840,000 through Morrisseys.

Kehoe & Associates secured £285,000 at auction for The Hilton Bar at The Quay, New Ross, Co Wexford.
