Leixlip Golf Course, a nine-hold course on the edge of the N4 in west Dublin, has been sold prior to tender for around £2 million.

Hamilton Osborne King had been quoting a price in excess of £1.7 million for the six-year-old course, which has been producing an income of £175,000 from green fees and membership contributions. There is uncertainty as to whether the new owners will continue to run the golf course. For that reason, brothers Sean and Eddie McKone are handing back membership subscriptions. The original large Georgian house on the site, Cooldrinagh, has been restored and enlarged and is now run as Becketts, a country house hotel and restaurant.
