Lisney won the annual estate agents tennis tournament for the first time when they beat newcomers Moore and Co from Cork in the final at Lansdowne Lawn Tennis Club last weekend.

Thirteen teams took part in the Irish Times sponsored event, including a second team from outside Dublin, Quinn Brothers from Longford. They were drawn in two groups and the two leading teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals. Sherry FitzGerald and Lisney emerged from one group while Hooke & MacDonald and Moore & Co topped the second group.

Both results were close with Lisney beating Sherry FitzGerald by two matches to one and Moore & Co edging ahead of Hooke & MacDonald also by two matches to one.

As the final match approached, the dark sky and heavy rain did nothing to quell the enthusiasm of both the Lisney and Moore & Co. teams. Lisney's mixed double pairings won by 6-1 while the men's doubles won by 6-3. Moore & Co's mixed doubles proved to be a formidable pair and overtook the Lisney side by 6-4.
