Lisney’s takeover of a landmark bank premises on Leeson Street in Dublin 2 certainly marks a changing of the guard. The former Bank of Ireland branch had become a festering eyesore in its prominent position at the fork in the road to and from the city centre opposite the Doubletree Hilton (formerly the Burlo). Lisney set its sights on the premises over 18 months ago as a location to replace its St Stephens Green retail office.
The aim was to open the doors for business by Easter, but a world of planning pain and about €250,000 later the Leeson Street office has opened for business in time for the autumn selling season. The new office is likely to catch the attention of commuters to and from the south Dublin suburbs – a traditional Lisney stronghold.
The interior, meanwhile, is far from traditional, perhaps signalling a bold Lisney step into competitive mode, and it’s understood more retail branches are planned.
