I get the train though its not very well served, with only a feeder bus going up and down from Celbridge to the station at Hazelhatch.
You still have to negotiate Main Street, so you're still at the mercy of traffic jams. I cycle up and down to the station. I've had a bike stolen, so I've reinforced the security by putting two new locks on my present bike. I've had a car broken into at the station in the past, and I've seen cars left with doors open. It's an unmanned station, with no proper security.
Train times have been revised recently. I use the 7.55 a.m. which takes 15 minutes to get to town. I'm usually in work by 8.30 a.m. I keep another bike parked at Heuston and cycle along the quays to work. I wouldn't drive because it can take up to one and a half hours, and getting out of Celbridge is a major problem. Five roads converge at the humpbacked bridge and it's horrendous. They set up traffic lights and there's been a bit of a war about them. Now they are switched off.
The road out of Celbridge is a single-carriageway and if you get stuck behind a 67A bus it can be very slow. I got the bus when the train-drivers were on strike and I dreaded it every day - it takes as long as the drive. The express bus catches the Lucan traffic on the motorway and the 67A goes right through Lucan and Chapelizod. The train is the best way.
