PROPERTY auctions are fast becoming the preferred way to sell property quickly – as long as it is keenly priced – and this week Lisney sold Prince Patrick on Knockacree Road, Dalkey, Co Dublin for €927,000 - €52,000 over its guide price.

Off Sorrento Road, the 370sq m (4,000sq ft) house, which needs work, came with plenty of stately looking reception rooms and stunning sea views and a two-bed bungalow on its 0.4 acre grounds.

Lisney sold the house a year ago for €980,000 in the auction room.

Meanwhile auction specialist Merlin Group – better known for its car auctions – is now getting into the property market and is launching its new agency today. It will shortly announce details of its mass property auction which is due to take place towards the end of November.
