Michael Lynn's D4 semi with all mod cons

The Sandymount house of missing solicitor Michael Lynn and his wife Bríd Murphy is expected to make €1

The Sandymount house of missing solicitor Michael Lynn and his wife Bríd Murphy is expected to make €1.85 million at auction next month.

Lisney has been appointed by the court's solicitor and will auction the Dublin 4 semi on March 11th.

After the sale the court will divy up the proceeds as several parties, including Ulster Bank and Bank of Scotland, as well as Mr Lynn's wife, have made substantial claims to the property.

None of this is going to matter to potential buyers who won't be fazed by the notoriety of the house but will instead see a walk-in home in a quiet cul-de-sac near the sea.

There are three bedrooms, as well as a converted attic room, two interconnecting reception rooms and a big kitchen, as well as a converted garage. Bathroom and en suite have been upgraded.

The back garden shows all the signs of professional landscaping with extensive decking, and a large contemporary garden house, complete with wall safe.

The house is completely bare. This is common in repossession cases - typically it's a sign the sheriff has been in.

Snoopers looking for clues as to the whereabouts of the missing solicitor will be disappointed. The only personal items left are a box of calming herbal teas in the kitchen, a very large pile of unopened post mostly marked "private and confidential".

This repossession is likely to be one of many this year as, notorious cases such as this aside, it's a phenomenon that's on the increase. Home repossessions increased from 311 in 2006 to 465 in 2007.
