The multiple food retailer Musgrave SuperValu-Centra Northern Ireland is to lease a new 1,858 sq m (200,000 sq ft) storage and distribution facility on the former Cawoods site at Dargan Road in Belfast. Lisney's Belfast office handled the deal, one of the largest industrial transactions in the north in recent years. The purpose-built unit valued in the region of £14 million sterling is due to be handed over next August.
The building, developed by Belfast Harbour Commissioners, will be a distribution facility and include offices and both chill and ambient storage with an eaves height of up to 12m. The Musgrave group currently has 76 outlets in Northern Ireland and plans to increase that number to 90 by the end of this years. Lisney's agency director David McNellis described the deal as unique because of the floor area and the cubic capacity involved.
