I leave the house at 7 a.m. or 7.10 a.m. That gets me into Dublin at either 8.15 a.m. or 8.45 a.m. depending on the traffic. If I leave any later than that it can take a couple of hours and I won't be in work until at least 9.30 a.m. I used to work in Blanchardstown and it took 35 minutes on the back roads.

Still, it's not too bad. On Mondays I have to be in work at 8 a.m. I leave the house at 6.30 a.m. and I fly into town, getting there at 7.10 a.m. My office is in Drumcondra, but if I worked in the city I'd take the train - it would be a lot less hassle. I moved to Sallins about three years ago, to a three-bedroom detached house. There was more space around it. I'm from Lucan, so I'm used to driving. It's not so bad if you leave enough time. I seem to be the only one coming out of Sallins early in the morning, but on the main road now I meet a lot of traffic. It starts at Kill, builds up at Newlands Cross and I always get stuck at the toll on the M50. I've noticed it getting worse over the last couple of years. When schools are off, it makes a huge difference.

I don't like the travelling but I like living here. Everything is down the road. We shop in Naas and the Tax Office and County Council are very handy. Coming home in the dark in winter, you don't see a lot of people during the week. A lot of people in Naas are starting and finishing early now. Once, I left the office at 4 p.m. and didn't get home till 6.30 p.m.
