Dublin 6: €1.9mA four-bed redbrick has been refurbished and offers a mix of traditional and contemporary spaces, writes Eoin Lyons
Redbricks on Windsor Road, off Palmerston Road, Dublin 6, are of a scale that is perhaps easier to handle than the larger houses on some neighbouring streets.
Number 31 Windsor Road, a 154sq m (1,664sq ft) four-bedroom house, is being auctioned on April 26th through Douglas Newman Good, which is quoting an AMV of €1.9 million.
The owner bought it some years ago and has now refurbished it - bathroom fittings, for example, are still wrapped in plastic and the kitchen has a sparkling new feel.
The exterior has been spruced up and looks very Dublin 6, with gravel and miniature trees on either side of the front door.
A livingroom at the front of the house has all the usual lovely cornicing, shutters, wood floors and a cast-iron chimneypiece.
Reflecting the relaxed way many people now like to live, the rear of the house has been opened up to create a wonderful large space for family living - there's a sitting area with large exposed brick fireplace, a dining area beneath a glass roof with rustic wood joists, and a cream-painted wood kitchen with tiled floor.
