Greystones living: three-bedroom house in need of an update near Greystones village for €670,000

Number 3 Killincarrig Road, a three-bedroom terraced house, is pretty much the first house you’ll come to at the entrance to The Burnaby. It’s next door to Ireton’s distinctive, old-style grocery shop and overlooks Burnaby Park.

The house is in good condition but was last refurbished in the mid-1980s. The lack of a back garden explains why it is the least expensive of the three Burnaby houses that have just come on the market: a patio area at the rear, accessed from a road at the back, is used for parking.

Like the other two houses for sale, number 3 has plenty of original period details – sash windows, marble fireplaces, coving and the high ceilings typical of the time. The 195sq m (2,103sq ft) Victorian house, built in 1898, is for sale through Sherry FitzGerald for €670,000.

Downstairs, there are two large interconnecting reception rooms on the right of the front hall, both well-maintained. The diningroom is painted a deep, vivid green in contrast to the neutral cream drawingroom. The long kitchen/ breakfastroom has a Rayburn in an alcove and a tiled floor; it opens into a small sunroom. Upstairs, there are three double bedrooms, one on the return and two at the top level.

The current owner has lived here for 40 years and is heading home to Kerry. Number three, says the agent, may appeal to people trading down from larger houses in the area as it will accommodate their furniture. It is very conveniently located to Greystones village, within easy walking distance of its cafes, shops, buses and Dart station.
