Powerscourt: voted third best garden in the world

For most of us, our dreams of one day living in a fine house or castle with breathtaking grounds fade with maturity, but it doesn’t stop us appreciating the stately homes and gardens of others when we see them.

Now a new website, Houses, Castles & Gardens of Ireland is helping us to reconnect with our childhood fantasies.

The site features 73 remarkable properties around Ireland that are open for the public to visit throughout the year.

From historic residences to stunning gardens, there are beautiful images to enjoy at hcgi.ie, with the mighty Powerscourt House and Gardens – just voted the third best garden in the world by National Geographic magazine – amongst those featured.

The site was established to help market these outstanding properties and attract tourists during their open seasons. As well as giving an insight into each property’s background and history, the HCGI website also provides contact information, directions, amenities information and admission prices.

For those looking to tour some of the properties, the HCGI team can also suggest itineraries, and a regularly updated events listing lets you know when festivals and open days are taking place.

Each profile on a property gives details of its specific features. So whether it’s a film or wedding location you’re after, a guided tour or a quiet woodland walk, it’s all there to discover and plan before you embark.
