An advertisement in a recent edition of a New York daily newspaper described a loft-like SoHo studio at the corner of Lafayette and Bond Streets. It mentioned the modern IKEA interior and that most prized thing in New York - a terrace with a view.
What the clever advertiser didn't mention was that the apartment is in fact a life-sized studio that is stuck horizontally on to a traditional billboard. It is part of Absolut Vodka's ongoing advertising campaign which it put together with the help of fellow Swedes IKEA. The 19 foot high, 49 foot long weatherproof sign is completely furnished right down to that staple of New York living - Chinese takeout cartons. The apartment is "on view" until the end of December.
