PROPERTY has been falling in price fairly dramatically over the last two years, but it seems that not all sellers are getting the message.

Take Duninga House near Goresbridge in Co Kilkenny. Last time we wrote about the property, in September 2009, it had been put on the market by receivers, at €1 million, to include no less than 14 holiday apartments and 47 acres.

At the time the sale attracted a flurry of interest, a good deal of it from overseas buyers. RTÉ camped out at the gates, and it was assumed that a knight in shining armour would appear to rescue the property, whose owner had gotten into difficulties over plans to convert it into a hotel.

But it seems no such knight appeared and Duninga is still for sale, though it’s now 25 per cent more expensive. Savills is advertising it on its website at €1.25 million.
