The home of the former Supreme Court judge Hugh O'Flaherty, a semidetached Edwardian house at 24 Herbert Park, has been sold after auction for a figure believed to be over £2.8 million. Two parties emerged at the Lisney auction after bidding opened at £2 million, but the property was withdrawn at £2.7 million and was sold after almost an hour of private negotiations.

The seven-bedroom house is believed to have been bought by an Irish businessman based in the UK, Mr John Mullen, who is a part owner of the Thomas Pink chain of shirt shops. Elsewhere in Dublin 4, a threebedroom house at 54 Oaklands Park, in Sandymount, was withdrawn from a Gunne Residential auction, quoting £535,000.

In Rathgar, Dublin 6, 43 Brighton Road, a five-bedroom period house, was withdrawn at £550,000 and sold later for a higher price through Lisney.

A four-bedroom semi-detached house at 98 Terenure Road West made £336,000 through J P & M Doyle.

Lowe & Associates is seeking offers in excess of £340,000 for 1 Palmerston Close, Windsor Road, Rathmines, following its withdrawal from auction at £300,000.

A three-bedroom end of terrace house at 34 Elmpark Avenue, Ranelagh, was withdrawn at £339,000 and sold later for a higher figure through Sherry FitzGerald.

In Dublin 8, a one-bedroom cottage at 1 Jane Ville, off Lombard Street West, South Circular Road, was withdrawn by Sherry FitzGerald which is quoting £230,000.

South Dublin

In Dalkey, a two-bedroom bungalow at 43 Barnhill Road was sold at auction for £430,000 through Lisney.

Douglas Newman Good is seeking £360,000 for Somerville, a three-bedroom semi-detached house on Corrig Avenue, Dun Laoghaire. Also in Dun Laoghaire, 3 Crofton Terrace, a four-bedroom terraced house, was withdrawn and is under negotiation through Tom O'Higgins.

In Foxrock, 5 Hainault Park, a three-bedroom bungalow, was sold at a Douglas Newman Good auction for £590,000.

Harper O'Grady is quoting £450,000-plus for 47 Farmleigh Avenue, Stillorgan, a four-bedroom detached house, following its withdrawal from auction.

A site of just over half an acre at 17 Gledswood Avenue, Clonskeagh, Dublin 14, was sold at a Lisney auction for £255,000.

In Dublin 16, 17 Orlagh Park, Templeogue, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, was withdrawn at £321,000 and is under negotiation through Turley & Associates.

In Rathcoole, Co Dublin, Woodlock, Redgap, a five-bedroom bungalow on three acres, was withdrawn at £600,000 and is under negotiation through Jackson-Stops.

North Dublin

In Malahide, 13 acres of land at Streamstown was withdrawn at £1,255,000 and sold later for a higher figure through Keane Mahony Smith.

A four-bedroom semi-detached house at 43 Mount Prospect Avenue, Clontarf, was sold at auction for £570,000 through Douglas Newman Good.

In Castleknock, a two-bedroom cottage-style house at 10 Park Villas was sold at a Sherry FitzGerald auction for £308,000.

Wicklow

A five-bedroom period house on five acres, Kilquade Hill House, Kilquade, was withdrawn and is under negotiation through Hamilton Osborne King.

A detached five-bedroom house at 87 Eagle Valley, Enniskerry, was sold after auction for over £730,000 through Sherry FitzGerald.

In Laragh, Clara House, Claravale, a four-bedroom house on 1.7 acres, was withdrawn at £600,000 by Gunne Residential and sold later for a higher figure.

The same agent withdrew Gorse Cottage, Glendalough, at £240,000 and it is now under negotiation.

Provincial

In Athboy, Co Meath, Balrath House, a modern bungalow on 370 acres of tillage land, was sold at auction for £2.9 million through joint agents Ganly Walters and T E Potterton.

Also in Athboy, the same agents sold 163 acres at Castletown at auction for £1.3 million.

The Raymond Potterton agency auctioned three Co Meath properties: a six-bedroom detached house on 0.33 acres, The Orchard on Boyne Road, Navan was sold for £390,000; at Nobber, a five-bedroom bungalow on 59 acres with a 20,000 gallon milk quota at Cruicetown, made £400,000; in Slane a 167-acre non-residential farm at Broomfield was withdrawn at £700,000 and is under negotiation.

A four-bedroom bungalow on 2.5 acres at Nurney, Co Kildare, was withdrawn at £205,000 and sold later for a higher figure through Remax/Garden County.

Ganly Walters is quoting £360,000 for Garadice, a fourbedroom bungalow on 0.75 acres at Kilcock, Co Kildare, following its withdrawal from auction.

Also in Co Kildare, September Lodge, a four-bedroom bungalow in Kilcock, was withdrawn by Coonan.

In Co Louth, Ballygassan House, at Annagassan, a six-bedroom house on 2.5 acres, was withdrawn at £300,000 and is under negotiation through Hamilton Osborne King.

J S Fox sold a cottage on one acre at Cushenstown, Dunboyne, at auction, for £330,000.

A cottage on 1.3 acres, Gafney House, Gafney Little, Bellews town, Co Meath, was withdrawn and sold later for over £200,000 by Lisney.

Still in Co Meath, a four-bedroom dormer bungalow on 0.75 acres, Ballybin, Ratoath, was withdrawn at £240,000 and is under negotiation through Ronald Duff & Associates.

Hollybrook House, at Dartogue, Ratoath, was sold prior to auction for over the guide price of £375,000 through Ronald Duff & Associates.

In Co Clare, a 28-acre holding at Caher, Ogonnelloe, with planning permission for a house, was sold at auction for £320,000 by Sherry FitzGerald Talbot.

In Co Kilkenny, Florelle, a three-bedroom country house on an acre on High Street, Inistioge, was withdrawn at £240,000 and sold later for a higher figure.

Commercial

In Co Meath, 17 acres of development land at Rathaldron Road, Navan, was sold at auction for £1,550,000 through Raymond Potterton.

In Co Kildare, a 2.69-acre site with planning permission for 13 detached bungalows on Naas Road, Kilcullen, was withdrawn and sold later through Andrew J Nolan & Associates.

On Main Street, Monasterevin, Woods Newsagents was sold prior to auction for over the guide price of £250,000 by Colm McEvoy.

A development site at Cross Guns Bridge in Dublin 9 was withdrawn by Ganly Walters.

A former building society premises at 8 Stoneybatter, Dublin 7, was sold at auction for £515,000 through Brendan Walsh.

In Churchtown, The County Club, Braemor Rooms, was withdrawn and is under negotiation through Morrisseys.

A retail/restaurant/office premises at 12 Commercial Quay, Wexford Town, was sold after auction for over £410,000 by Kehoe & Associates.

In Co Clare, the Pier Bar, in Kinvara, was withdrawn at £750,000 and sold later for over £800,000 by Heaslips.

A 534 sq m square-metre site with outline planning permission for four two-bedroom townhouses at 128D Inchicore Road, Dublin 8, was sold at auction for £275,000 through Douglas Newman Good.
