Open space on maturing estate in Swords

A new phase of MKN's highly-regarded Ridgewood development at Forrest Road, Swords is going on the market today

A new phase of MKN's highly-regarded Ridgewood development at Forrest Road, Swords is going on the market today. Hooke & MacDonald will be staffing the showhouses from 12.30 p.m. Prices for the 20 newly-released units in Ridgewood Court will range from £155,950 (198,020) for two-bedroom townhouses and from £167,950 (213,250) for three-bedroom end-terrace houses.

Located on the airport side of Swords, the Ridgewood scheme's outstanding landscaping is one of its most popular features. While overnight queues are thankfully in the past, there is likely to be a good degree of interest from buyers. The last phase of three and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses sold out in one weekend last March.

Builder MKN Property Group's construction work is well under way at Ridgewood and previous phases closer to the entrance have matured nicely. Wide swathes of open space and densely-planted landscaping take the sting out of the high density layout and a deciduous tree has been planted in each front garden.

Completion of the 20 houses being released today is scheduled for July to October of this year. Natural gas central heating, generous bedroom and living accommodation and a strong emphasis on quality fittings are the hallmarks of this development. One attractive aspect is the builder's use of local craftspeople for finishing touches, such as hand-crafted stained glass panels in front doors.

The Ridgewood Court townhouses are grouped around a communal landscaped garden, but include small private flagged terraces with gates into the larger garden. Solid pine windows have been used throughout.

Two-bedroom townhouses of 775 sq ft cost from £155,950 (198,020). There is a neat entrance lobby to conserve space, with a downstairs lavatory off. Sittingrooms are good-sized as a result, with a wide bay window, classic-style fireplace and stairs winding upwards in the far corner.

Doors open to a large kitchen/diningroom, fitted with simple Shaker-style units and with a door to the patio. The main bedroom is a fair-sized double with an en suite shower room. Twin beds will squeeze into the second bedroom. Both have fitted wardrobes and are separated by the communal bathroom.

Three-bedroom end-terraced houses, at 1,010 sq ft, are considerably larger and cost from £167,950 (213,250). These feature a conventional long hallway with cloakroom off, a sittingroom at the front and a large kitchen/diningroom with doors to the garden. There are one single and two double bedrooms upstairs, while the main room is en suite. All have fitted wardrobes and the family bathroom is a good size.

The Ridgewood Court showhouses are a good example of what can be done to create an individual look and are worth viewing for that reason alone.
