Agencies relocate in D4: Two large agencies are relocating this spring in a move that will put them across the road from each other in a prime D4 location.
Gunne Residential is moving back into the pivotal corner building at 176 Pembroke Road where the late Fintan Gunne first set up business in 1984. The changeover is on foot of former sister company CB Richard Ellis moving to a new HQ at Connaught House on Burlington Road, where Gunne New Homes will continue to trade.
Gunne's premises at 164 Shelbourne Road has housed its residential, new homes and financial services business since 1998. The building has been empty for some time and will undergo refurbishment soon. "It's like going home," says residential director Rosemary Gunne.
Sherry FitzGerald's residential business has seized the opportunity for a foothold in this part of D4 by taking a leasehold on the 106sq m (1,140sq ft) Shelbourne Road premises. D4 is a traditional stronghold for the Sherry FitzGerald group and expanding out of its Merrion Row offices has been on the cards. Shelbourne Road will house Sherry FitzGerald Residential, Sherry FitzGerald New Homes and Mortgage Insight under one roof. With rapid growth in new homes and the Donnybrook premises bursting at the seams, this seems a smart move, but Ross McParland's team will find the move from their Donnybrook HQ a huge change.
DTZ Sherry FitzGerald and the company's corporate sector will remain at its Leeson Street HQ, while the Merrion Road and Donnybrook premises will be vacated. No decision has been taken as to these assets and the company is looking at options on their future use.
Welcoming Sherry FitzGerald to the area, Gunne's managing director Declan Cassidy expressed confidence that grouping both businesses in Ballsbridge will be positive for both and drive more customers through their doors.
Elsewhere, Ganly Walters has appointed David Meredith, who ran a large farm in north Tipperary for over 25 years, to act as negotiator for its country property and farms division in the Munster, south Connaught and Leinster regions.
Last week we mentioned Roisin Sweeney's move to Treasury Holdings from Mason Hayes + Curran. In fact, she was previously employed by UK-based law firm Masons, now Pinsent Masons. Not our fault, but we like to get things right.
