Describe the house
45 Fernleigh Drive is at the entrance of a tree-lined avenue in this popular development in Castleknock. The house is a three-storey townhouse with exceptionally large bedrooms. There are wooden floors downstairs, carpeted and decorated in Farrow and Ball neutral colours, gas fired central heating. It's a modern house recently decorated throughout and ready to move into.
Why are you moving?
To live closer to family.
What's the best thing about it?
I love the fact that my house is three storeys. The main bedroom, situated at the top of the house, is enormous. I love to sit on the couch in its box bay window just reading. You get a great sense of space in this house and it's easy to just hide away for some R&R in the bedroom. In fact it's so far away you can't hear anyone calling you from downstairs to attend to any chores! I also love waking up on a sunny morning looking up at the sky through the two skylights overhead. There is a very large en suite bathroom.
The house was built approximately five years ago and is very modern. We have used Farrow and Ball paints throughout the house which give great depth of colour. The kitchen is to the front of the house which is great if you are nosey by nature!
There is a huge back garden with a patio area, great for kids and summer dining. My niece loves to run the length of it every time she visits. It's almost like an additional room to the house. An extension is eminently possible while still leaving a substantial garden.
And the neighbourhood?
The Fernleigh development is made up of a variety of accommodation from one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom houses and my style of house, three-bedroom, three-storey. There is a bus stop outside the entrance, buses arriving every 15 minutes and taking approximately 40 minutes into the city centre. Coolmine train station is a 10-minute walk away. The M50 and N3 are also easily accessible.
We are situated close to Castleknock which has a lovely village and friendly feel to it. We can eat in a variety of good restaurants, go for beauty treatments in the well known So Belle Beauty Rooms. For those who love to shop, Blanchardstown shopping centre is eight minutes away by car.
The Phoenix Park is a wonderful amenity to have on your doorstep. I love going to the farmers' market once a month in Farmleigh to pick up supplies. It's also great to have picnics there with kids and watch the roller skaters and polo players do their thing on a Sunday morning. For those who love golf and tennis there's Luttrellstown Castle and Castleknock Golf and Country club as well as Castleknock tennis club..
Who'd like your home?
A single person who loves loads of space or a family with young children would be very happy in our house. It is in turnkey condition. There's potential to extend out into the large back garden. There are excellent local schools within walking distance, Castleknock College for boys and Mount Sackville for girls and the co-ed Castleknock Community College. The National Aquatic Centre is also about 20 minutes' away.
