Dublin 8: from €850,000Four exceptionally fine penthouses with spectacular views over much of south Dublin towards the Dublin mountains are being released for sale today at Portobello Harbour on the edge of the Grand Canal between Rathmines and the city centre. It is one of the best located developments on the market.

The spacious two and three-bedroom penthouses are priced from €850,000 to €925,000. GPK Properties is handling sales.

All the other 44 apartments and duplex units have already been sold, mainly to young professionals who can easily walk to work in the city from here.

This was one of the reasons why the site for The Moorings, next door to Portobello College, made a record price when it was sold at auction three years ago to builder Eugene Renehan of Walthill Properties.

He opted for a high quality development, modern in style and layout with a striking central courtyard which has an illuminated water feature. There are also two roof gardens.

"From the start buyers were attracted by the high quality of the development and the security it offers," says Tony Cambell of GPK. The buyers of each of the penthouses will get two spaces in the underground car-park which is entered through electronically controlled large wooden gates.

The show penthouse, like the other three for sale, looks directly over the canal harbour. The 102.19 sq m (1,100 sq ft) penthouse is the ultimate in comfort, style and space. The livingroom opens onto a south-facing balcony that can be used for al fresco dining.

The livingroom, which has a solid oak floor, has been fitted with entertainment and communications technology that will allow the owner to control heating, air cooling and curtains from a mobile phone.

There is also a remote controlled gas fire in the livingroom.

The kitchen is also top class, with cherrywood wall and floor units, integrated electrical appliances and polished granite work tops.

Both bedrooms come with en suites and there is also a superb main bathroom with Jacuzzi bath.
