One of Dublin's best-known restaurants, The Grey Door, at 22/23 Upper Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, is to be offered for sale by private treaty.

Wyse estate agents' commercial department is quoting in the region of £2.75 million for the four-storey, over-basement, double-fronted Georgian property.

It has over 7,500 sq ft of floor space and is located between Fitzwilliam Square and St Stephen's Green.

The business is run as two separate restaurants, The Grey Door, with seating for 42 diners, and Pier 32, which has seating for 75 at basement level and specialises in seafood and traditional and modern music.

The facilities also include the Natasha Rooms, three separate dining areas with a combined seating for 75 guests. Since 1997, The Grey Door has also operated as a four-star guesthouse and has seven en suite bedrooms.

The business first opened in 1960 and was bought in 1977 by P.J. Daly and Barry Wyse.

The two businessmen also own the Hibernian Hotel in Baggot Street, and last month they opened the McCausland Hotel in Belfast. They recently acquired a site near Elm Green Golf Club, close to Blanchardstown, for a third hotel.
