Quinn adds £3m Navan hotel to portfolio

BUSINESSMAN Sean Quinn has added another provincial hotel to his extensive hotel and bar portfolio. Mr Quinn has paid £3 million for the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan, which had a turnover of around £2 million last year. The hotel has 27 bedrooms and is in need of a major refurbishment. It was sold by Mrs Julie Gilhooley, who operates the highly successful Nuremore Hotel, in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, and the Grafton Plaza Hotel in Dublin.

The Gunne agency negotiated the sale of the Navan hotel.

Mr Quinn's hotels include the Slieve Russell, Ballyconnell, the Kilmore in Cavan town; the Hillgrove, Monaghan, and the Ambassador in Kill, Co Kildare. Two years ago, he paid £11 million for the Cambridge Holiday Inn, in the UK. Mr Quinn has a chain of 10 Dublin bars, including The Cat and Cage and Quinns in Drumcondra; The Harp on O'Connell Bridge; the Rathmines Inn and The Station in Rathmines.
