Dublin 4/€2m:  Millfield, at 129 Stillorgan Road in Dublin 4, is a detached house with 238sq m (2,560sq ft) that is ideal for a big family. It has been extensively refurbished to a high standard in the two years since the current owners bought it, with everything from new wiring, plumbing and windows to a newly built kitchen. It is scheduled for auction on March 8th through Felicity Fox, who is quoting an advised minimum value (AMV) of €2 million.

The gravelled front garden has two entrances so cars can drive in one gate and out the other. There's a little porch that opens into an entrance lobby, and this in turn leads through a glass door to the main hall. Like most of the downstairs, this is floored in new French oak which lends warmth to the very neutral decor.

The scale of the accommodation is immediately obvious from the size of the hall, off which are four reception rooms. The two at the front, on either side of the hall, are the grandest, with new white marble fireplaces, ceiling coving and centre roses. To the left, the rear reception room leads through glass doors to a conservatory with yellow wooden panelling on the walls to soak up the evening sun. Down two steps from the hall, a guest toilet has smart Italian sanitary ware.

To the right is the fourth reception room with an archway through to the very sleek Italian eat-in kitchen which has cherrywood, cream and frosted glass units and cream marble worktops and floor tiles. Off this, leading back around into the garage, is a utility room with access to a side passage.

French doors lead from the kitchen out to a lovely mature west-facing garden with a large patio between the kitchen and the conservatory - it's easy to imagine lots of sunny relaxed dinners there.

Up the stairs, which are lit by a large window, are four large bedrooms. The main bedroom, with dressingroom and en suite bathroom, runs the depth of the house, and two of the other bedrooms are also en suite. The main bathroom, like all the others, has very good sanitary ware and is fully tiled in cream.

Millfield is located next to the busy junction of the Stillorgan dual carriageway at RTÉ and Greenfield Park but, once inside, the traffic noise is quite low. Donnybrook village and the Merrion shopping centre are close by and there are many good schools within easy reach.
