The kitchen of 29 Highthorn Park in Dún Laoghaire is refreshingly low tech with warm pine units and free-standing appliances.
The floorboards have been painted in Farrow Ball's Stony Ground floorpaint, while the walls are James White, also by Farrow Ball, a creamy white with a touch of green in it.
Free-standing pine units were bought from Flanagans in Mount Merrion, where they were displayed as sideboards.
The timber kitchen units and worktop came from BC Kitchens, a local company that has been in business for 28 years, building traditional painted kitchens (it does offer contemporary designs too.) Owner
John Crowe used off-cuts from the worktop to create the chunky open shelving. BC also supplied the Belfast sink and old world brass taps. (Tel 01-280 7158)
The large old fashioned wall clock is a recent buy from Quest Interiors on Francis Street (01-454 0299), while the dresser and mirror were bought from the Irish Building Supply Co in Dún Laoghaire (01-2808620).
