Dublin 4 €680,000: An interior designer has given her Ballsbridge apartment a radical and attractive overhaul. Edel Morgan reports.
Number 38 Ballsbridge Gardens is virtually unrecognisable as the apartment interior designer, Suzanne Silver, and her husband bought several years ago.
They ripped out many of the original features of this 1997-built apartment and remodelled it to stunning effect.
Located off Shelbourne Road near Ballsbridge in Dublin 4, number 38 is a two-bed, 96 sq m (1,030 sq ft) second floor apartment which will be auctioned on November 11th. Gunne Residential is quoting a guide price of €680,000.
The raised kitchen/dining area is the most dramatic transformation. Gone is the standard timber kitchen and in its place cream Siematic units with sparkling chrome surfaces, a dark wood-effect splashback and a huge island for storage and food preparation.
The appliances and storage presses and cupboards are hidden behind glossy units and the porcelain tiled floor glistens under the floor lights.
This raised area is edged with red oak flooring and a large bay-style window overlooks the grounds. A small dining area, also on the raised floor, has tasteful dark wood shelving.
Step down into the cosy but cutting-edge livingroom with red oak floors and painted timber panelling and recessing around a dramatic chrome wall mounted gas fire.
A double door opens onto a balcony with dark red mosaic tiles fringed with gravelling.
A khaki green wall behind the bed offsets the crisp whites and creams of the rest of the main bedroom. There are plenty of built-in wardrobes and a good sized en suite which has been fitted out with a trendy free-standing bowl sink on dark wood and glass. It is tiled in floor-to-ceiling beige and has a shower cubicle.
The spare double room is a reasonable size with a plush cream carpet and fitted wardrobes.
The main bathroom has porcelain tiles, a lighted mirror over the huge sink and a corner Jacuzzi bath. Again the look is contemporary dark wood and glass. The entrance hall has a large hot press, and a cloakroom currently used for storage.
The apartment is wired for an entertainment system and has one allocated car-parking space and communal visitor car-parking.
