Blackrock/from €750,000: Four luxurious penthouses go on sale today in Woodview, a successful  Jackson Homes development off Mount Merrion Avenue in Blackrock, Co Dublin.

Built in the former grounds of the Sacred Heart Missionary order at the junction with Cross Avenue, the quality of this location is hard to beat. True to previous form, the developer has produced a superb landscaping scheme to blend with existing mature greenery and preserved deciduous trees.

Added to the top floors of apartment buildings at the rear of the site, the four penthouses are finished to an exceptionally high standard, with surround sound, central vacuuming, the latest kitchen gadgets and beautiful flooring.

Prices vary depending on size, from €750,000 for a 107 sq m (1,150 sq ft) two-bedroom unit to €1.9 million for a fully furnished 260 sq m (2,800 sq ft) two-bed plus study penthouse.

Another furnished penthouse with two-bedrooms plus study and 214 sq m (2,300 sq ft) of living space costs €1.6 million. €875,000 buys a 121 sq m (1,300 sq ft) two-bedroom penthouse. The price includes a garage with remote controlled door plus one designated underground car-parking space.

The living space is impressive, especially in the larger penthouses, which compare favourably with many four and five-bedroom properties. A second sittingroom is fitted out as a guest double bedroom. Hallways, kitchens and bathrooms are floored in expensive polished marble, with underfloor heating in bathrooms and hall.

Sanitary ware is high-spec, with Jacuzzi baths, steam power showers and heated towel rails. Bathrooms in the two larger penthouses are room-sized. The sittingroom, diningroom and kitchen are arranged in an open-plan layout, with the business end of the kitchen discreetly out of view of the sittingroom.

Decks off the sittingroom, sheltered by the mansard roof, provide good views over the treetops on the estate. A smaller timber deck is also provided off the bedrooms.

Velux windows are electronically operated. Every conceivable appliance is fitted into the cherrywood units, from cooker and fridge-freezer to a microwave and cappuccino maker. Worktops are polished granite.

The two furnished penthouses are ready to move into, laid with oak and birch or carpeted floors and smart contemporary furnishings. These include a Sony 42" plasma screen and state-of-the-art Sony surround sound system with DVD.

Viewers will be impressed by the finish in this development, from the comprehensive landscaping, to the traditional rustic brick exteriors.

Annual maintenance charges will be €1,500 for the two smaller penthouses and €2,200 for the larger units. Viewing starts today, by appointment with Sherry FitzGerald New Homes.
