Some 20 out of 52 units in a converted hop warehouse apartment scheme on London's South Bank have been sold in advance of the project's launch today.

The Maidstone Buildings scheme comprises a selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments in an open warehouse style with exposed brickwork and roof timbers, where possible.

One-bedroom units, with 474 sq ft, start at £145,000 sterling and go up to £175,000 for 700 sq ft. Two-bedroom units, which predominate in this scheme, start at £215,000 for 990 sq ft and go up £340,000 for 1,616 sq ft. Three-bedroom units with 926 sq ft start at £235,000 and increase in size to 1,701 sq ft for £350,000.

The Maidstone Buildings are Georgian warehouses built in the 1820s and retain a host of original features, such as loading bays, cranes, and a bridge linking the buildings.

The apartments will have solid oak flooring in the livingrooms and kitchens, bathrooms will have tiled floors and walls, while bedrooms will be fully carpeted. Kitchens are furnished with a hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. According to the developers, the apartments will be fitted out to "clean modern designs".

The scheme's South Bank location means it is close to theatres, pubs and restaurants. The City of London financial centre is just 800 metres away and Waterloo railway station one mile.

Maidstone Buildings, developed by Howard Holdings plc, are being launched day by Christies in Sachs Hotel, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
