CO DUBLIN:FROM €235,000:Windows wide and wonderful give all apartments in the first phase of this scheme good views of the sea, writes Rose Doyle
WIDE AND wonderful views of the Irish Sea should give a selling edge to a new development at Barnageeragh Cove, Skerries, Co Dublin. The first phase of 39 apartments comes on the market today.
On a site fronted by the Irish Sea, backing into the rolling green of north Co Dublin and just outside a burgeoning Skerries, Winsac Developments and architects Fitzgerald Kennedy are working on a scheme of 280 apartments, 30 townhouses and 40 duplexes with an urban centre to include a primary school, supermarket, medical centre and more. Underground parking spaces are included in apartment prices.
This first phase takes full advantage of the location and all 39 one and two-bedroom apartments have sea views and balconies.
In two blocks; Kittiwake D1 is perpendicular to the sea and stepped while Kittiwake E1 directly faces it.
Prices range from €235,000 for a one-bedroom unit with 53sq m (570sq ft) of living space to €435,000 for a two-bed of 100sq m (1,070sq ft).
Variations occur depending on position and views and the architect's design allows for differences in apartment layouts.
Kitchens, by McNally, also vary. Walls of floor-to-ceiling glass are standard.
In the stepped building (D1) the basic one-bed apartment has a kitchen to the rear of the living/diningroom and a balcony accessed from the livingroom and bedroom.
In the D1 entry level two-bedroom apartment (one of them en suite) there are balconies to the front and rear; one off the livingroom, the other accessed from both bedrooms.
A bigger, corner positioned two-bed in this block costs €375,000 and has wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows front and rear. In the front facing E1, the homes are bigger and prices start at €380,000.
A corner unit, selling for €425,000, has spectacularly wide views from wraparound windows with endless-seeming vistas from the larger-than-most living/diningroom and kitchen. The main bedroom in this design has an alcove for the bed, an en suite and balcony.
Communal areas are bright, with oak veneer finishes and porcelain flooring.
Landscaping at Barnageeragh Cove, which is by Ronan MacDiarmada, is already coming on apace and includes brave splashes of colour as well as grasses and small trees.
Agent Hooke MacDonald will open the show apartments today and tomorrow between 1pm and 4pm and at the weekend between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
