DEVELOPER Seán Dunne has been drafted in again to help Wicklow County Council with its campaign to convince businesses based in the city - in Dublin 1, 2, 4 and Blackrock areas - to move south to a less stressful life in the Garden of Ireland.
The council is launching a charm offensive in the form of a "Wicklow Showcase" which will be held at Dunne's Ballsbridge Court hotel (or the Berkeley Court as it was once known) on November 30th.
Seán Dunne will be the key speaker at the event and will offer practical information and advice on developing a new business and relocating an existing enterprise to Wicklow.
Other luminaries speaking at the event include Michael Allen of Arklow builders Allen & Smyth and Brendan O'Callaghan, general manager, Schering Plough (Avondale).
Previous showcases targeted businesses in the Sandyford, Leopardstown, Stillorgan and Citywest areas. Apparently the benefits of Wicklow include its high-quality business parks, infrastructure and suitably zoned land for new commercial development as well as a highly skilled workforce.
"But perhaps the greatest benefit of all is the opportunity to end the many hours of commuting to the workplace which has become so much part of the working day," according to the Wicklow County Council press release.
And so say all of us.
