Swords: It's difficult to fault the convenience and long-term potential of a three or four-bedroom semi with a private back garden, especially when it is within easy commuting distance of the city centre. Kate McMorrow

Sherry FitzGerald New Homes is launching the final phase at Bunbury Gate, a Kingscroft development of three and four-bedroom houses off Rathbeale Road, near Swords, Co Dublin. Twenty-two houses are on offer - 16 three-beds and six four-bed semis.

Prices start at €325,000 for three-bedroom semi-detached houses of 104 sq m (1,100 sq ft) and €355,000 for four-bedroom semi-detached houses of 117 sq m (1,260 sq ft). Kingscroft's trademark is ready-to-move-into houses, so these units come with a full range of chrome appliances and fireplaces fitted with a flame-effect gas fire.

Viewers can look at previous schemes by this developer at nearby Sandford Wood and Bride's Glen, to see the standard of finish of a mature Kingscroft development. At Bunbury Gate, fronts of rustic brick with a redbrick soldier course create an attractive first impression.

An arched porch protects the panelled front door from the elements. Inside, three-bedroom semis have a traditional layout, with a hallway and guest toilet tucked under the stairwell. The sittingroom has ceiling coving and a classic-style fireplace with gas flame-effect fire insert.

Double doors with half-glass panels open to the diningroom, which, in turn, opens to the kitchen/diningroom and utility. Here, maple units have smart contemporary handles and brushed chrome appliances are included - a good saving for buyers. By the breakfast nook, glass doors open to the back garden.

Two double bedrooms and one single, the family bathroom and an en suite shower room off the main bedroom complete the upstairs accommodation. Built-in wardrobes are provided. Neutral-toned wall tiling in kitchen and bathrooms is also a standard feature.

Four-bedroom semi-detached houses have a similar configuration, with the addition of a box bay window in the sittingroom and main bedroom. Of the four bedrooms, two are doubles and there are two single rooms, with an en suite shower off the main bedroom and built-in wardrobes.

Gardens are open-plan to the front with shrubs planted as dividers between the houses. Enclosed back gardens will be levelled, with an outside tap fitted and security lighting to the front and rear.

This last phase at Bunbury Gate will be ready for occupation by summer 2004, according to the selling agent. Showhouses are open for viewing this Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

To access the site from Dublin, take the road signposted to Ashbourne off the fourth roundabout after the airport, on the Swords bypass. Turn right after 200 yards, then left onto Glen Ellan Road and past the Celestica factory. Continue straight through Applewood Village and Bunbury Gate is on the left after the second roundabout.
