LETTERKENNY-based auctioneer Paul Reynolds and property developer Michael Hegarty from Buncrana are to seek planning permission for a shopping centre in the grounds of the former Convent of Mercy in Castlebar, Co Mayo. The businessmen have paid about £500,000 for the convent complex, which is located in the centre of the town. The two businessmen are also involved in the The Court Shopping Centre in Letterkenny.

The planned Castlebar shopping centre will have two large anchor tenants and 10 unit shops.
