Those likely lads are back. News that David Byrne and Ed Byrne of Merlin Property are to stage another auction this month led to speculation at Around the Block about whether we could look forward to another televised helping of the fortunes of the used-car salesmen – Merlin Motors – turned estate agents.

When the boys held their first, rather modest auction, last November, the process was televised as a reality programme, Auction House, for RTÉ’s Reality Bites series. The boys’ enthusiasm, bravado and downright neck made compelling viewing.

Around the Block understands the boys are “in the early stages of development of another series” with Vision Independent Productions; the cameras will be along on Tuesday, May 22nd, at the auction of 20 residential, commercial and investment properties, which is being held at Dublins Radisson Blu Hotel, on Golden Lane.

Merlin Property has formed an association with Murphy Mullan Estate Agents since the last auction, and many of the properties for auction are located outside Dublin. Bidders can look forward to snapping up gems like the one pictured above on Aiden Street in Kiltimagh, Co Mayo.
