DUBLIN 8 IS to get a touch of Libeskind/Gehry-style starchitecture in a new terrace of houses to be built in a lane off Camden Street.

The three aluminium fronted mews houses at 3 (A, B and C) Pleasants Place are for sale off-plans for €950,000 each through agent Felicity Fox.

The new houses, designed by Architecture 53 Seven, will be built on a site between more standard-style brick mews houses.

Architecture 53 Seven – known for their angular, strong and eventful designs – have got three houses onto the site by running them side by side along the whole site and by incorporating terraces and courtyards into the designs.

Each of the three-storey houses – which are due to be completed 10 months from purchase – will greet you with white aluminium panels, stainless steel grilles and large expanses of glass.

Inside, materials include cast concrete, timber floors and doors, stone floors and black glass walls.

The long kitchens will start at the front of the houses and steps go down from here to the marble-floored livingrooms, with conceret elements, that will be punctuated by courtyards with hot-tubs.

On the first floor – reached by timber stairs running up from the front door – is a double bedroom to the front and a do-whatever-you-want-with room at the back with French doors onto a limestone floored terrace.

The main bedroom, with en suite and walk-in wardrobe, will take up the whole top floor. There will be a rooflight over the bath and more natural light will come in from expansive glazing to the front of the house.
