For affordability, go for the newer houses in the area. You can still pick up a Bramley or early Luttrellstown house, not too small at around 1,000 sq ft and minutes from a train station and the new local community college.

Look on the periphery of Castleknock, where there is good appreciation. Laurel Lodge, Luttrellstown, Bramley and Riverwood are all good buys.

Growth is strongest in the first-time buyers' market. For starter homes try Laurel Lodge. Also good value is Hadleigh, where the houses are considerably less than across the road in College Grove.

The real tip in Castleknock is location. Georgian Village, Deerpark, Castleknock Road are expensive to buy into. But there are also good quality houses in Bramley and Luttrellstown.
