Waterford: from €240,000: Section 50 student apartments in the city of Waterford go on view this weekend with joint agents Hooke & MacDonald and Lawrence McDonald.

Twenty two and three-bedroom apartments in this phase are from €240,000 and €265,000 respectively. These qualify for 98 per cent tax relief in the current tax year.

Owners can set this amount against all rental income in the Republic. Mortgage interest relief on borrowings also applies. As part of the tax break, renting to students is mandatory for an initial 10-year period.
