Property developer Sean Mulryan picked a loser last week when he threw his not inconsiderable financial weight behind his native Roscommon team in their bid to break into the GAA big time. Alas, they took quite a drubbing from a tougher Mayo team. A week earlier though, Mulryan was luckier when he won the prestigious Guardian newspaper award for the best apartment scheme in London - his redevelopment of Westminster Hospital. The development, called St John's, has turned out to be a stunning success, not least with Irish buyers who own a good percentage of the luxury apartments. For those who are still looking for an investment in London there are just nine out of the original 185 units left. The cheapest of these is £475,000 and for anyone needing extra space, the last remaining penthouse available will set you back £1.75 million.

Meanwhile, cantilever penthouses at his Millennium Harbour development close to Canary Wharf are being advertised widely for between £950,000 and £1.2 million to include Zen garden terraces and diving board style decks.
