Swords townhouses from £133,950

Showhouses will be on view from today in the latest phase of the Ridgewood development at Swords

Showhouses will be on view from today in the latest phase of the Ridgewood development at Swords. Prices range from £133,950 to £159,950 for the 35 two and three-bedroom townhouses which are due to be completed from June onwards. The two types of townhouses are part of a central apartment, duplex and townhouse scheme within the larger Ridgewood development. Selling agent Hooke & McDonald had to cope with overnight queues when the last phase of this scheme was launched. Ridgewood Square is a high-density development, with quality fittings and good landscaping.

The entire scheme will have 77 units: 51 two-bedroom townhouses; 22 three-bedroom townhouses and two one-bedroom ground-floor apartments with two three-bed duplexes on the top floors.

The blocks are different heights, creating a pleasing mix of roof levels. Exteriors are of old-style brick and cream render, with solid timber Rationel windows adding a natural look.

For sale in this initial phase of Ridgewood Square are 19 two-bedroom townhouses with 757 sq ft, priced from £133,950 to £139,950, and 16 three-bed townhouses, with 1,011 sq ft, from £153,750 to £159,950. These are almost finished: the remainder, comprising 42 townhouses, two one-bed apartments and two three-bed duplexes, will be completed by November next. Interiors are ready to walk into, with fireplaces and wall-tiling standard and the walls painted in a choice of subtle pastel shades. Front doors have modern-looking sandblasted glass panels. The two-bedroom houses have a tiny front lobby with a downstairs lavatory off. This makes the sittingroom larger than usual for a starter house.

The stairs are to the left and not immediately obvious on entering the room. A large bay window has enough room for a desk or easy chair and there is understairs storage for cleaning appliances. The fireplace is timber with a cast-iron surround. Through double doors, the kitchen/ diningroom is also good-sized, with beechtype Shaker units and timber doors to a paved patio. The two bedrooms upstairs are both doubles, with ample wardrobe provision. The bathroom, which is fully tiled in dark grey and cream and has a good overbath shower, can be entered from either the landing or the main bedroom.

Three-bedroom townhouses have a traditional hallway with guest lavatory off. There is a good flow of space from the sittingroom to the large diningroom/kitchen. The sittingroom fireplace is particularly fine, of timber with a decorative cast-iron inset. Kitchen units are solid oak and there are timber doors to the patio.

Two bedrooms are double-sized, again with entry to the bathroom from both the landing and main bedroom. Bathrooms have a separate shower in these larger houses and some end units have an additional en suite shower. The third bedroom is single, also with wardrobes and would make an ideal home office.

With already mature planting, pergolas and garden seats the gardens are a special feature of Ridgewood Square. Each patio is separately landscaped and climbers will be trained up the house walls. Sturdy timber fencing around individual terraces have steel gates to the central garden.

O'Dwyer Property Management will be looking after the gardens at a cost of between £325 and £375 per annum. The selling agents will be taking deposits on properties at the site today and Friday from 12 noon to 3 p.m., Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
