Planning permission is being sought for what will probably be one of the best apartments in Sutton, but the property won't be coming on the market. The only candidate for the three-bedroom home will be the steward at snooty Sutton Golf Club. The club has put forward a brave plan to build a spanking new two-storey clubhouse of over 10,000 sq. ft on one of the most picturesque sites in north Dublin. Not surprisingly for a Dublin club, the membership list has been closed for some years and only the very privileged, such as former international player Joe Carr - who once lived in a house overlooking the second green, will enjoy the new club facilities.

Sutton is known more as a social club - it only has a nine hole course - but for serious golf most of its members go on to Portmarnock.
