Is there no pleasing the planners? Despite all the Government's efforts to increase the stock of new housing in Dublin, planning departments are still throwing spanners in the works. In the past, developments have frequently been shot down on the grounds of being too large and dense, but this week one of the planners must take the biscuit for blocking a high quality scheme in north Dublin on the grounds that the density was too low. Builders are getting heartily sick of pandering to these pen-pushing prima donnas who can delay developments for months on end without any justification. Perhaps the various county managers should be more directly involved in what is happening in their planning departments.
